Day 76

Now..today was a nice session even though I didn't do it for a full hour, but I'm thinking of doing some more studies tonight.

Day 75

This month was terrible in terms of sketchbook work, I used the time I had to work on projects for college instead, since I felt I made decent progress with these daily sketches. But now I quite my job, so I have no excuses. I have to produce work here daily again :D Not very happy with today's outcomes, I wasn't feeling very loose and dug into stupid little details that take away from the poses.

Day 73

Ok and we're back to figure studies! It's important to everyonce and a while ask yourself what it is you want to do, and what your short term goals are.
Mine is definitly to get employed as fast as possible, and I think animation is the skill I want to sell on my cv, so in order to achieve that I just have to focus on actual animation, which means strong life drawing and lots of good animations both in 2d and 3d.
I'll be finishing my job in 2 weeks time so then I won't have to work on these studies at midnight anymore and I'll be using different media to explore the figure.
For now I stick to pencils!

In this image here I tried to build the image from shaded planes, really break things down in a constructional way, which I think would really help painting at a later stage.

I then did some blind drawings (which I didn't post) and moved on to some more loose drawingsbut still trying to rely on strong shapes rather then outlining the figure.

Day 72

Following in the footsteps of my friend Marc McCabe (check out his blog), I did a masterstudy this morning based on one of Frank Frazetta's paintings, it's actually surprising how much fun it is to copy an amazing piece of work like that. I might put in another hour tomorrow to finish this study.

Day 71

I've been really busy with my 3d project. but I do try my best to squeeze in my daily hour studies. Thanks to Marc, I'm kinda on a painting trip at the moment, even though I swore to stay away from that, but as long as it stays fun, I don't mind.
Today's a study of the female figure. 50 mins Photoshop.

Day 69

Wow,
how slow am I? 45 minutes for this study! Haha,
That's because it was something I never drew before,
so the brain takes a long time to analyse the textures and stuff,
but hopefully it'll go faster next time and I can get some more done.

Day69

Joined the Crimson Daggers for a painting session after college before I went off. First time painting my surroundings in Photoshop, really enjoyed it!

Day 68

I'm still not getting the time at the moment to go back to daily studies, instead some more sketching for our script project.

Day 67

Today a drawing of Graham in the pub. Put on a wash of watercolors and then worked on it with pencils. Really not confident with this media at all, but I guess practise will make it easier and better...

Day 66

Pushing deadlines so have to keep using my daily sketching for my script concepts

Day 66

Took my time today to work some more on conceptual work for our group script project.

Day 65

It's already March! I tell you, this academic year is flying by at super nova stellar explosive speed! But I don't think I ever learned as much as I did this year either, so it's been a good ride. Anyway started some figure studies again, and looking for a more senstive line in my drawings again. Some drawings in the 90 second poses I did are quite appealing to me.

decided quickly I needed a warm up, so did 30 second poses (posemaniacs)

then I did 90 second semi-blind drawings:
