Day 53

I couldnt find any motivation to do studies today, but TK was drawing supergirl, and that seemed quite cool to do, so here's supergirl!

The first image lacked lots of stuff:
- Weight of that character she is holding on top,
even though she is supergirl...
- No expression in her face
- Story..why is the pig/dog there??

So this is the second image:

Day 52

So today another digital..again endresult was not important at all. this one was much better then yesterdays attempt anyway, but the key really is to work from simple tonal shapes.

Here's the workflow:

Day 51

Tried something different today..
did a digital tonal painting using a large paintbrush for as long as possible,
and then go in with a finer brysh to add detail.

1) large oil rough bristol brush for sketch


2) using the same brush I started to place lighter and darker tones


3)I then started to put in midtones and blend some areas


4) Blend in some more and where I started to loose shape I went in with a hard brush to create a solid edge.


5) With a much smaller brush (oil round bristol) I started to paint the face,
and blend some more areas. I then adjusted the levels of the image to get more of a contrast...


This is obviously far from finished, but the aim of this exercise wasn't to get a pretty picture but to try out different things...

50 days of sketching one hour? nice one!
Well can't say today will be a memorable post, I want to work on some character designs before I visit nightmare land. But today I just did a bit of markmaking, not so much focussing on the drawings.

Man...work is taxing...especially working 4 nights straight on college nights, when do I do my assignments? At 1am I guess :D

poor day, just did some studies of the forearm which sometimes gives me trouble, especially the connection to the wrist/hand
