I've been watching the "rebuild" of Evangelion, a cult anime series from the 90s I believe, I watched the entire series years ago, and couldn't wait to watch it on Blu Ray. And wow..it's amazing! There's so much new footage, and from the second volume on it's almost entirely new (yet still sticking to the original concepts). I love it and highly recommend it, but so far I still rate the original series higher, just because it was more stretched out and those "Pointless" scenes, really added a lot to the characters.
Anyway here's the sketch of the day:

Some more sketching from cheers today, I just got the new Intuos4 tablet! It's defo a new drawing experience, I think much better control and it feels like I'm drawing with a real pen. Really neat! Going to play around with TVPaint tonight and start animting so that's why I kept this session short.

Started off again with posemaniacs.com sketches (30 seconds each) This time I did them in photoshop:
Then I did some sketches from a youtube video from the show Cheers, the good thing about youtube is that the quality is shit, so you won't actually be drawing details and use less linework to get better impressions:
I then did a longer pose :

So dear drawing friends, I am back from my visit to Toulouse where I spent all 2 days hugging my girlfriend..yes nothing more...that's true love for ya! :P Anyway, I'm back in my cold stuffy apartment now, so immediately hitting the drawing board and trying to flex those stiff drawing muscles. I did some 30 second drawings and then I did some longer drawings based on reference imagery from the web. I'm far from where I want to be, but one step at a time...we'll get there!
Kicking off with a selection of what I thought were the most successful 30 seconds drawings from posemanicas.com:
Then my 2 "longer" poses, in which clearly I already forgot what I had done in the quicker studies :P

So after a good start of 3 days I already skipped yesterday again :)
Actually I worked the late shift, and then I got overtime offered if I came in on the early shift the next day, so I just couldn't (or didn't want to slot in a bit of time for sketching). To make things worse I'll be gone from Friday to Tuesday visiting my awesome girlfriend in France. But I'll be back afterwards!
Keeping in line with boosting my abilities to make animations, I need to really get better in photoshop. For years I've just been using the standard round brush, but it's quite obvious that texture really speeds things up (and looks a lot better), so I devoted some time at trying to create some brushes to make some background stuff. Really quick, but that's the nature of animation.
The first one I did, I relied too much on my previous way of working and it ended up sucking the most, quite pleased with the other ones however! It can only get better right!

Hey,
So decided to load up posemaniacs.com again since I'm going to start animating again!
Man, am I stiff! I uploaded the last 3 pages I did, the first few sheets were THAT bad :)
Then when things got a bit looser, I tried to find the important lines which I did in the first one(left), but then as you can see i wasn't patient enough so I ended up with sucky drawings.
I wasn't finding a flow so I decided to do the opposite and draw with straight lines :D

I like the nest drawing in the left again, minimal lines but I like the choice of hard lines to shape the leg/hip..anyway. Like any athlete I need to get in some sort of shape again by drawing daily!
