3: Now without reference, how did you do? The more you do it, the better this will become. (obviously I haven't done it enough :D)

Reminding myself of proportions, Loomis is always the best for that.

It's perhaps a stretch to call these studies :P But keeping the habit of opening your sketchbook daily is worth more than good drawings.

Hand studies + ink

Below some hand drawings with no reference, followed by a sheet of copies from John Byrne hands

And trying to use a brush for inking, nib in the 2 small figures. All studies.

So more studies from the comic book pages. Looking at some Buscema, amounts some terrible practice with a cheap and old ink brush. Tools in this case ARE important, you need to be able to get to a thin tip for line weight, but the brush I have has all the hairs in all directions :P Time to buy a decent brush.

Then some drawing from tv series, not about copying the actors, but looking at the mouths and expressions and how to simplify it.
