Since I'm doing a concept job I am doing some 1920s research, hairdo's clothes, shoes, make up, etc...

Today I did some gestures of faces...well, its hard to do a gesture of face really. I don't really have an approach for that yet. That's why I forced myself to do time gestures of 30 secs, and a couple of 60 secs. What I really want to be able to do is to get some nice detail in the face of the model next time I go to life drawing.

This is a just a selection of my drawings:

Zzzzz Yeah I'm on the late shifts again and I have difficulties with the change of rythm again. Have been working on some commissions but since I couldn't get going today, I wanted to do some quick 30 second poses. I then did a color study in Photoshop, I wasn't as interested in what I was drawing really..just playing around with brushes and working zoomed out with a fairly big brush. Didn't want to get sucked in to detail, instead replicate a more traditional approach. Quick color/tone study:

These are some sketches I spent a little more time on, and I thought turned out well:

60 second poses to start up the engines, I left the sketchbook and decided to do these in Photoshop, took a bit of liberty with some later on on where I extended my drawing time.

Last page are filled with 60 second "scribbles", you basically don't lift the pencil. Good exercise!

132 : Life Drawing at Sol Art Dublin

Today I attended life drawing again at Sol Art in 8 Dawson Street, Dublin. A session costs 10 euro. The model is actually Flemish..it's a small world :P This is the second time we got to draw her and I felt a lot more confident this time around, the hips and belly had been causing me problems last time, but I had a better grasp of it today.

These are the warm up sketches: 1 minute each.

And here the more serious stuff :P

These were the first longer poses, kinda crappy :(

Here I was actually finished drawing a pose, and then did a super quick sketch witch turned out great I think
