Heads
Some more Loomis studies. I feel that this time, now that I spent some time on skulls. It's sinking in a big better, the landmarks are making more sense. Eventually it'll all sink in :P, 2 more page studies to complete the 50 pages of head drawings challenge.

Grinding
Continuing on the sketchbook challenges of 50 pages in: the Loomis Mannikin & Buscema Artist Study. The hope really is to do keep this up every day, even when life gets busy. 30 minutes a day should be enough to fill even just 1 page. Consistency with anything is more important than quantity.

No reference pages
So an important step in the studying, is to also do pages of drawing without reference. Not to replicate perfectly what you've been studying, but to see how much sticks and where you are struggling / missing information. A constant back and forth is the recipe to improving your skills. Just studying alone doesn't do it, it's like learning a paragraph from a book, you need to learn how to make your own paragraphs by experimenting and making mistakes :)
New week!
So continuing my (daily) sketching habit, working through 50 page studies for HEADS, MANNIKIN and artist study : JOHN BUSCEMA (aka Big John :P).

R.I.P Toriyama
Just heard the news of his passing. I think he may have been my biggest influence on drawing when I was a kid. I made an entire comic (all just heads talking :P) totally ripping off his style when I was a young kid. So for tribute decided to sketch from the master, I may do an artist study of him..I love the cartoonig in his work, his expression are great!
Basics
Repeating these core exercises, the better we know the fundamentals, the easier we'll be able to do the rest :D
For the head that basic Loomis model (although I think I prefer the one from How to Draw the Marvel way, even though it's basically the same). And drawing more skulls, to better know the placement of the brow, nose, cheeks. Also how the teeth are placed, which is something you don't see but it really helps.

head studies
I dislike all these drawings, but all counts for practice :P
Drawing the Skull
Reading some Loomis and being reminded that learning about underlying structure is important. It's always easier to draw when you know what makes the shapes. I don really suck at drawing the skull, so let's put some work into it :P
