Gesture Practice LVL2 XP40

Not quite gestures, since it's untimed, but a bit of figure practice in Storyboard Pro.

LOOMIS - MANNIKIN practice

Since it's been a long while since I was drawing for fun, I always go back to figure drawing first. First I copied the Loomis mannikin figure, and then tried a couple of poses from imagination below that.

Gesture Practice LVL2 XP30

An eternity has passed since the last time I did these. I want to pick things up from where I was with my "Art Academy". I recently started using a bullet journal which will tie in better with tracking my practice sessions, because I have no idea where I last wrote down those stats :/

Gesture Practice LVL2 XP20

Trying to remember to focus on the studying, and not an end result. Enjoying the process. These are A4, first started with china markers, but they really don't work that well for me, they are too dark and sticky. So I switched to blue pencil.

Gesture Practice LVL2 XP10

So I'm still working on some points based system for myself, where every session of figure studies gets me 10 XP :P So to graduate with a stamp, I need to do 50 sessions, currently on my 11th since I started counting.

I also decided to do a trial on the website NEW MASTERS ACADMY. They have really great model poses to use as reference, but also a ton of courses. I'm doing the one on FORCE with Mike Matesi. I took a course with him ages ago, and my drawing really levelled up then (but I was drawing A LOT of hours every week).

I bought some newsprint and a LYRA GRAHPITE pencil, and currently on week 2, where he spoke about Gravity, and did the exercise on a 2 minute timer per pose.

Gestures #5

Experimenting a bit with how I draw and with what I draw. In fact I ordered a drawing board so I can draw on bigger paper with the board on my lap instead of hunching over on a badly lit desk drawing small. Time to shake things up as soon as it arrives.

Gestures - Pencils #3

1 min to 5 min poses. All rubbish :P

But that's why it's practice! :)
