Day 82

These are yesterdays sketches, I stopped early because I wasnt feeling too wel, only to feel worse today lol So I'm going to bed early and work 2 hours on my studies tomorrow instead.

Now..off the subject I watched another Ghibli movie. When people think of Ghinly they immediatly think of Miyazaki, but Isao Takahata director some pretty cool movies. I actually watched the first movie he directed before him and Miyazaki founded Ghibli called "The little Norse Prince", and I really enjoyed it. Granted it really shows it's age and it was primarily directed at a younger audience, but it had heart which every Ghibly has. I think they were suposed to have finshed the film in 1 or 2 years but Isao kept pushing it and it ended taking up 3 years of production, he never was allowed to direct a movie since ... Well, not for that company :D

I watched another unknown title of Ghibly called "whisper of the heart" directed by Yoshifumo Kondo. It's a more realistic film, but as an animator still a pure joy to watch. Because they capture subtle human movement very well, little touches that make the characters very human and easy to relate to. Fair enough the story was almost too sweet, it's more a type of film I'd recommend watching with a love interest :D But when you're lying sick in bed you can't ask for much haha

Anyway I should be back in full form tomorrow! My sketchbook will burn I tells ya!

Day 81

Nothing much to say, continuing working on the head since it ties in with our lifedrawing homework. Now I'm going to finish some texture studies for our visual language class. So boring, but has to be done...

Day 80

OMFG!
Yeah that's an expression study, try holding that pose Hahaha
It's been a rough day..I was out last night so I felt like a decapitated chicken with diarhea this morning.
So I took it easy today, met with some friends and chilled out.

I started reading the manga Blade of the Immortal by Hiroaki Samura. Google it to see some fantastic paintings by him, he's absolutely amazing in anatomy, hands and feet are no sweat for this guy :D
But what good is a artwork without a cool story right? And this is one badass manga,
I am already hooked after one issue (issue 9), it had an interogation scene that reminded me of Inglorious Bastards, need I say more? And there's no shortage of bloodspilling either, exactly my cup of tea.

So..working my way through anatomy. First up revising past lesssons.
So I drew the skull and the skeleton from memory and then looked at reference

Look at that pelvis in the sideview, I had absolutely no idea what it looked like anymore :D

Starting to look at some mass conception by Hogart, I try to draw it from what I imagine it would look like from different angles, I can feel my brain work when I do that.

This is the first tier masses on that structure

And again tried to imagine it from different angles

Then a quick drawing of a head to put it all into practice.

And a conceptual one

Day77

So as I said yesterday I was going to study the skull.
I'll move on tomorrow into studies of the muscles on the face,

Then drew it several times from memory, untill I got it pretty ok

Then drew skeleton man again, I'll have to draw him daily now.

And then I threw everything I learned overboard, and made this sorry excuse for a sketch :D Structure! Get your pose going before you start rendering...seriously why do I have to keep reminding myself ! :D

Day77

Today I spent my time drawing the skeleton, I'm going to draw the skull next time, because I really suck at it!

I then drew the same from my memory:

Day 77

I picked these are the best of today's session:

I started off with 30 second poses on posemaniacs,
thinking geometry for the basis this time.

I then did 60 second drawings with the same mentality:

Then applied the same to longer studies (as the two on top)

Earlier today I drew this study of an expression of my face,
Marc don't laugh..I know it's not nearly as close as cool as your self portrait,
I was uninspired after doing texture studies for visual language...
I hate that class! :D

Day 76

Now..today was a nice session even though I didn't do it for a full hour, but I'm thinking of doing some more studies tonight.
